BARBARA NORFLEET, PHOTOGRAPHER:  Barbara Norfleet served from 1966 to 1981 as a senior lecturer in visual and environmental studies at the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University, where she was the curator of photography. She received her BA from Swarthmore College, and her MA and PhD in social relations from Harvard University and Radcliffe College. Her works have been widely shown in the United States and Europe, with exhibitions at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC; Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston; International Center of Photography, New York; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Norfleet is the recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in the field of photography in the 1984 competition throughout the US & Canada, a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, and the Aaron Siskind Award.

ELLEN LIMAN, PAINTER:  Ellen is a graduate of Barnard College and studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, Columbia University and the National Academy of Design. Her paintings are in many private and corporate collections.  She works in a studio near the Norton Museum of Art on Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach, but she also has a place in New York and one on Martha’s Vineyard, where she often paints right on the beach. And yes, occasionally some sand may get into the paint but she says, “I think that just makes them more interesting.

"Liman's work honors nature in a most sophisticated manner.  It escapes being decorative because of her confident brush strokes and careful composition.  The strong connection between the artist and subject matter manifests itself in the vibrancy of her scenes and flowers." –ArtNews

JOHN NICKERSON ATHEARN, WATERCOLORIST:  Mr. Athearn is a self-taught artist who inherited much of his inspiration from his grandfather, George Brehm, a painter and illustrator who worked with Norman Rockwell.  Mr. Athearn has been creating watercolor paintings his entire life and was born and raised in West Tisbury. His delicate landscapes encompass a feeling of peace and natural beauty.
